Please read over for important class information.

*In an effort to save paper, the majority of classroom to home correspondence will be through email. Some paper items may still come home from time to time in your child's folder. Please check your email frequently to stay up-to-date! If you change your email during the school year, please notify me so I can make sure you do not miss any important announcements through emails.

*Any afternoon dismissal changes MUST BE called in or emailed to Jaime or Maria at the front desk ASAP before 2:00. It is highly appreciated if you notify the teacher as well (either through email or a note). This is crucially important for any students who ride the bus or other after-school vans (CBC, karate, etc)! Failure to notify the school of any changes will result in your child going home their usual, every day way. **Your child may not relay your message as proof of a dismissal change.**

*Any new individuals picking up your child who are unidentified/unknown by the teacher will be asked to produce identification and may be checked to make sure he/she is on your child's approved "pick-up list" at the front desk. Please notify the person picking up your child of this policy. To help this process become easier for all, email or send in a note with the person's name so the teacher and office are aware. These steps are put in place with your child's utmost safety in mind.

*Don't forget to save those Box Tops! Save them to turn in during special Box Top events throughout the year.

*To help minimize the spread of colds, please remind your child to cover his or her coughs/sneezes, keep fingers away from their eyes, nose and mouth, and to frequently wash their hands and/or use hand sanitizer.

*After we begin to get comfortable in our new routine (after the first week or so), you are welcome to come have lunch with your child anytime. **Super important-please let me know if you will be having lunch with your child (either through an email before 8:00am or a written note sent in). This is crucial in making sure the correct amount of lunches are ordered from the lunchroom in our early morning lunch count. If no note is sent in and your child does not have his/her lunchbox to eat with you, your child will make a lunch choice from the lunchroom's choices that day for lunch.** After signing in at the front desk for lunch, you may wait for your child to meet you near the lunchroom's exiting double doors. Please remember only your child may leave the lunchroom with you-no friends may accompany. Please eat at the high-top wooden tables at the auditorium end of the main hallway. Remind your child even though this lunch time is a special time, they need to remember they are at school and to follow the school's expectations for their lunchtime. Please have your child back to the lunchroom's exiting double doors (closest to front desk) at the end of our lunchtime so they may rejoin our class.

*Please remember if your child is late to school (with exception of morning bus riders), you must come inside with him/her and sign-in at the front desk. Your child will receive a tardy slip which they must bring with them to class. A child is considered "tardy" if he/she arrives after 8:30.

*If your child is absent, a hand written note or email explaining the reason for the missed day(s) must be sent in within 3 days of the absence for the office to mark the absence as "excused". If no note is received, the absence will remain "unexcused". Any questions or concerns regarding this should be directed to the office as they are the ones who adjust the absences.

*Student water bottles are sent home every Friday for cleaning, and should be returned back on Monday morning. Please help your child with being responsible for his/her bottle (take it home, bring it back, take bottle out of backpack/refill it). If your child happens to forget his/her water bottle on Monday, he/she may receive drinks from the water fountain until the bottle returns to class the following day. Water bottles are encouraged to be at school to keep your child hydrated during the day as well as minimize classroom distractions with children frequently leaving the room for water.

*Students may not be signed out of school early between 2:00-3:10 unless a note has been turned in prior to this time frame. The teacher will need to be notified (either through email or a note) whenever you are picking up your child early . Even though this time frame is the end of the day, crucial learning does take place during this time and students need to be in the classroom if at all possible. If you are volunteering at school and your volunteer event ends early between 2:00-3:00, you will either need to sign-out your child early before 2:00 or sign out on the classroom's sign out sheet (if available that day). If your child is not signed out/the office notified prior to 2:00, you may not take your child with you prior to the 3:15 dismissal time. You will need to go out to the dismissal area and wait for your child to be released to you at 3:15. Thank you for your help in this matter.

*If you will be having lunch with your child, please remember to send in a note that day so I may turn in the correct lunch count to the lunchroom. If you would like to surprise your child for lunch, please still send in a note so I know not to order a lunch from the lunchroom for your child. You may send in the note in an envelope addressed to me to keep your lunch visit a surprise. This will help to avoid any confusion in the lunch line or unnecessary lunches ordered. Thanks!
